Before I could paint, I learned how to draw. From a very young age, I was taught art through the classical fine arts methods passed on for centuries in Europe, focusing on proportion, perspective and draughtsmanship - learning, at six years old, alongside students at the Fine Arts University of Bucharest. After hours of producing technically correct, academic drawings, I would take a fresh piece of paper, and re-do what I just did, without thinking or filters - led by instinct. I always preferred the result of this spontaneous, gestural art better...it seemed more energetic and less considered. Less thinking, more feeling. This collection is a selection of drawings and sketches of places and people around the world, drawn with heart and in the moment.
