Inspirations

I'm an early riser, and even more so when I’m travelling. I love the fresh possibilities of new days, especially when I'm discovering new destinations.
This streetscape is a blend of many towns and cities, and of my wanderings through Portugal streets in the early hours, before they came to life. This became a quiet ritual—an exploration of stillness, light, and the beauty of empty alleyways where I could admire the architectural details and building facades. Compiled after many sketches from my travel sketchbook, it's a
reflection of those moments, inspired by countless mornings spent searching for coffee in sleepy towns, just as shopkeepers lifted their shutters and the scent
of fresh pastries drifted through the air.

From the grand yet weathered facades of Porto to the sunlit corners of Lisbon, from the coastal charm of Lagos to the historic streets of Coimbra,
each place carried a unique rhythm. In Setúbal, fishermen prepared for the day’s work, while in Tavira, tiled houses stood silent under the soft glow of dawn. The sketchy lines of this illustration merge these experiences, blending intricate architecture with the fleeting, dreamlike quality of early mornings.

This piece is more than a cityscape—it’s a memory of wandering through Portugal, of quiet steps on cobblestone streets, and the anticipation of the
