Inspired by many visits to Paris, this drawing began with the repeated experience of standing directly beneath the Eiffel Tower and looking up in awe.

We’re so used to seeing the tower from a distance, rising above the Paris skyline. I wanted to explore it from another perspective — looking closely at the intricate iron structure, the solidity of its base and the sweeping arches overhead. From below, something so familiar suddenly becomes monumental, graphic and almost abstract.

The original Eiffel Tower drawing was created by hand in black pen and ink on paper. I used intricate, overlapping lines to capture the architectural structure while preserving the spontaneity and imperfections of the original sketch.

The exaggerated perspective was intentional, emphasizing the sensation of looking upward from beneath the tower rather than reproducing a conventional view of the landmark. The original artwork was then carefully digitized and refined for reproduction while preserving the character, linework and contrast of the hand-drawn illustration.
