This black and white illustration was inspired by two visits to Rome, twenty years apart. What struck me both times was how the city layers past and present so effortlessly—where ancient beauty becomes part of everyday life. In this drawing of the Spanish Steps, I wanted to capture that living rhythm: people pausing, moving, gathering, surrounded by architecture that has stood for centuries. It’s a place where history is always present, but never still—a snapshot of Rome as it continues to evolve, one moment at a time.
