Inspirations

I was travelling around Greece for the third time, lazily basking in all the blue of the sea, sky, and architecture around me. I've been reading Greek mythology since I was a little girl, and had always been fascinated by the powerful stories, legends, and Mount Olympus, the lost Atlantis kingdom, and the fact that their gods were almost like real people.

Each time I returned to different parts of Greece, some things stayed consistent: blue, white, endless skies and sea, beauty, crisp lines and light wonderful people, a sense of humour, and a rich history.

I tried to simplify the spirit of these experiences into an artwork that is minimalist, fun, light and makes you smile, makes a fun reference to ancient Greek history and legends (think Poseidon), while also, conjuring up your favourite Greek island hopping vacations and fun in the sun - a Mediterranean getaway you can hang in your home.

I created this travel poster using mixed media collage techniques: drawing, paper cutouts, and illustration on paper as the original support for the artwork. I photographed the final art work and digitally edited the details, preparing it for a high quality, large monochrome art print. The interplay of bold patterns and textures adds a contemporary dimension to the art print, inviting the viewer to immerse themselves fully in its vibrant blue and white colours.
