This blue Portugal travel art print was inspired by a recent trip from Lisbon down to the southern Portugese region of the Algarve. This fine art poster print is composed of an architectural drawing of a charming building with ornate ironwork balcony details, a rounded double door arch, unique window ornamentation and typical blue and white Portugese ajulejos tile art. The original travel sketch was inspired by a particularly beautiful house in the picturesque small town of Tavira. I created the mixed media artwork by layering the original sketches and drawings from my travel sketchbook onto a painted blue background, and then collaged the hand painted, graphic patterns onto the blue wall.

Inspirations

I created the original sketch for this artwork during a road trip exploring the coastal landscapes, small towns, fishing villages, and beaches from Lisbon to the Algarve along the Atlantic Ocean.

The original travel sketch was inspired by a particularly beautiful, slightly run-down house in Tavira’s historic center, that I stumbled on after a long, lazy sun-soaked lunch. This picturesque setting, with its timeless architecture and coastal charm, became the foundation for the artwork, capturing the serene and authentic spirit of Portugal’s southern coastline and beautiful traditional architecture.
