This Scandinavian art print with a black and white fish and graphic lines is part of a 3 piece abstract wall art series of fish art. I created this minimalist home decor wall art as a culmination of my travels through Northern Europe: I've delved into the depths of the North Sea's allure, relished the yummy simplicity of Holland's raw herrings, and admired the artistic finesse of Denmark and Iceland. I've enjoyed the simple joys of Nordic living, taken cold swims in icy waters, and have delightedly basked in a minimalist yet warmly functional approach to art, design and living. 

And so, this modern canvas print is my interpretation of, and homage to a scandinavian aesthetic. A graphic fish swims in a black and white pattern of graphic lines, surrounded by water, and open to interpretation: playing in the rain, swimming in the sea, or heading on a journey among his sardine friends. There is not one right answer - art is as you see it. The slim canvas has an approximately 2cm /0.8" thick wood stretcher bar, while the thick canvas has an approximately 4cm /1.6" thick wood stretcher bar. Both options come with hanging hardware included for easy installation.

Colored edges are not supported

The canvas substrate uses a coated fabric: a blend of cotton and polyester, providing a weight of approximately 300-350gsm/110-130lb cover and a thickness of 350-400 microns, giving you a sturdy and durable product.

A hanging kit with hanging hardware is included for easy installation.

To ensure no damage during transportation, the canvas print is shipped in protective packaging and a strong box.

First, I drew hundreds of fish using black ink on paper, experimenting with black and white shapes, patterns, lines, and with an extreme simplification of shapes and elements. My goal was to create simple yet impactful minimalist shapes that capture the essence of Scandinavian simplicity. I combined the fish drawings with hand drawn patterns made of lines, waves, and abstract shapes. When I felt I reached a perfect balance of movement, dynamism, and simplified art abstraction, I transferred the original artwork and re-drew the graphic patterns using digital software, ensuring sharp lines and precise symmetry. As a final step, I enhanced the contrasts, highlights and shadows, fine-tuning the details to ensure a crisp and high quality reproduction into a modern print on canvas.
