Creative Process

This artwork was inspired by years of exploring the French Riviera, returning season after season to its beaches, rocky coves, and sun-drenched coastline. Whether walking along Cap de Nice, swimming beneath the cliffs of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, or discovering hidden corners of the Côte d'Azur, these places gradually transformed from landscapes into feelings, memories, and sensory experiences. Those impressions first took shape as sketches on paper before evolving into an acrylic painting on canvas.

Once the painting was complete, I brought the graphic elements to life using hand-painted paper collage. The striped swimsuit and shimmering water reflections were painted on paper, carefully cut by hand with an X-Acto knife, and meticulously assembled onto the canvas, adding texture, depth, and a handcrafted finish to the final composition.
