Creative Process

I sketched the window details in black ink on paper, using a crosshatching technique to capture the depth, texture, and contrast of the architectural elements. The intricate lines emphasize the intricate architectural details,highlighting the character of traditional Portuguese design.

I then painted a rich blue background using
watercolour, gouache, and acrylic, aiming to recreate the sensation of being immersed in the serene blues of Portugal—the vast sky, the shimmering sea, and
the crisp white facades of sunlit buildings. This layered approach helped me capture the quiet elegance and atmosphere of my travels.

To further enrich the composition, I collaged hand-painted azulejo-inspired patterns onto the blue
