This blue Portugal framed wall art print was inspired by a recent trip from Lisbon down to the southern Portugese region of the Algarve. This framed fine art travel poster is features a minimalist architectural drawing of a charming blue house with intricate iron work details, an arched doorway, round window ornaments and typical painted blue and white Portugese ajulejo art. The original travel illustration was inspired by a beautiful old house in the picturesque small town of Tavira. I created the mixed media art print by layering the original hand drawings from my travel sketchbook onto a handpainted blue background, and then collaged graphic patterns I drew, painted and photographed onto the blue texture.

This blue Portugal artwork with traditional tile art was created during a road trip I took recently, exploring the coastal landscapes, small towns, fishing villages, and beaches from Lisbon to the Algarve along the Atlantic Ocean shoreline. Inspired by the charming city of Tavira on Portugal’s Algarve coast, this artwork captures the essence of this historic town, which straddles the Gilão River and meets the sea through the inlets and lagoons of Ria Formosa Natural Park.

The original travel sketch was inspired by a particularly beautiful, slightly run-down house in Tavira’s historic center I stumbled on after a long, lazy sun-soaked lunch. This picturesque setting, with its timeless architecture and coastal charm, became the foundation for the artwork, capturing the serene and authentic spirit of Portugal’s southern coastline.
