Inspirations

I spent many long, blissful months travelling in, through and across Southeast Asia.

First, while living in South Korea in my twenties, I discovered Thailand, where I spent two months on its western side, and then another two months on the Eastern coast. I never wanted to leave.

I discovered Vietnam while travelling with my sister, who proposed to her boyfriend on a hidden beach surrounded by jungles and flanked by mountains and rice fields.

Years later, I spent two months in Goa, India while completing my first yoga teacher training, and then went to Bali a few years later, where I spent another two months doing an advanced yoga training and meditation course hidden in the rice fields and lush jungle vegetation of Ubud, before exploring the island of Bali by scooter and boat.

For me, these beautiful paradise destination trips were long, slow and life-changing. I spent a lot of time exploring, reflecting and observing their beauty, sensory overload, culture and landscapes, while diving deep into my own spiritual journeys.

In this colourful abstract artwork, I wanted to capture the colours, tranquility, calmness and reflective immersion in the landscapes, beauty and sensory experiences that reached deep into my heart, mind and consciousness, in one single image that evokes all of the above in a visual, artful abstraction. Creative Process

The Bali, Thailand, Vietnam and India travel art print is an abstract illustration mixing organic shapes, bright colour pops, abstract design and hand drawn illustrated tropical landscape elements such as grass and painted water. Inspired by the lush green rice fields, tropical vegetation, colours, flowers, and blue rivers, majestic waterfalls and the spectacular seaside spots in this paradise island, this tropical illustration is a modern, graphic illustration inspired by happy coastal and island vibes and spirit.

I created all the separate components of this artwork by hand using mixed media techniques such as drawing, painting, and paper decoupage, and the final composition was a collage on canvas. I photographed the final artwork, edited and enhanced the colour saturation, vibrancy and contrasts digitally before having the final artwork transferred and printed into a premium quality wall art print.
