    Inspirations

    My inspiration for this 2 piece plant art series was nature. Intrigued by all the unique tropical plants, flowers and landscapes I discovered while living and travelling around Mediterranean - and obsessed with the beauty of the simple (sometimes giant) shapes of succulents, cactus, agave (to name just a few), as well as the incredibly beautiful flower and veggie gardens growing alongside lush exotic flowers, wild and domesticated plants, the beauty of nature in this region never fails to amaze and inspire me.

    I even started gardening, and my happy places have become flower markets, botanical gardens, and any place where I can be surrounded by the beauty of nature. I wanted to create a series of nature-inspired modern art that would bring this plant love indoors in a unique and contemporary way.

    My inspiration for this 2 piece plant art series was nature.     I even started gardening, and my happy places have become flower markets, botanical gardens, and any place where I can be surrounded by the beauty of nature. I wanted to create a series of nature-inspired modern art that would bring this plant love indoors in a unique and contemporary way.

    Material & Features

    The minimalist wooden poster hangers are made with four magnetic wooden dowels, two that clamp to the top of your print and two that clamp to the bottom to give a vintage look and feel. The poster is made with heavier-weight, 200 gsm / 80 lb, white matte paper that has a natural, smooth uncoated finish that feels luxurious to the touch.

    While the poster and hangers are packed separately in one box, final assembly is required by the end recipient. Don’t worry; it's a snap to put them together - no expertise is required.

    Creative Process

    I created this Mediterranean garden abstraction art using a mix of fine art techniques: painting, drawing, collage and paper decoupage, using a canvas as a base. This is a nature-inspired 2 piece art work that I created by hand, painting the canvas background and abstract shapes using acrylic paint and adding many paint layers to create a rich yet soothing colour palette. Then, on very large paper, I drew the plants and tomato, and painted them in black ink, before cutting them out using decoupage techniques.

    I experimented with the placement, composition and size of the elements, testing various combinations of abstract shapes on the canvas support. Once the final composition was in place, I glued the foreground elements to the painted abstract canvas background, and varnished the work to add richness and depth to the collage, while also protecting the paint. I photographed the final canvas artworks, and edited the art digitally so it could be reproduced as an art print, while still keeping its tactile layered effect - creating a unique nature inspired art print for plant lovers.
