Flamenco's always fascinated me—not just as a dance, but as a form of expression, a romantic dialogue between movement and music. In Andalucia, Flamenco is more than a performance; it is a raw, emotional conversation filled with intensity, elegance... and a lot of passion. The first time I saw a live Flamenco dance was in Seville. I couldn't look away, and I'm pretty sure I forgot to breathe - it was THAT good.

In this portrait, I wanted to capture that duality: the sheer power and grace of the dancers themselves and the deep, almost hypnotic emotion they evoke in their audience. The performers command the stage with an assertiveness that is both fierce and fluid, their movements building in momentum, echoing the rhythms of the guitar and the sharp, percussive claps of the palmas. Their costumes—bold, graphic, and full of motion—are as much a part of the dance as their footwork, swirling around them like echoes of their passion.

To convey this duality, I blended perspectives. The dancers stand at the edge of the composition, poised in motion, their figures dynamic and dramatic. But woven into the image is also the viewer’s experience—an almost dreamlike sensation of being pulled into the rhythm, the colour, and the sound in front of you.
